A Different Kind Of Growth Chart
Welcome back to Poll Of The Day — today’s question asks how much physical presence influences inner presence.

TODAY’S POLL
Does your height impact your confidence? |
LAST POLL RESULTS
61% of you voted Completely fine, no second thoughts in yesterday’s poll: When you leave a store without buying anything, how do you usually feel?
“Lol, you don’t always have to buy something every time you step into a store.”
“They expect this to happen. No biggie.”
“I do not think a retail shop expects everyone that enters to make a purchase.”
“As a consumer, I don’t feel compelled to justify my visits…”
“I don’t care what people think!”
“Why would I feel guilty? If there’s nothing I like or need there, there’s no reason to waste money.”
“I work in retail. It is completely fine to browse. There’s never an obligation to buy anything. No one should ever feel guilty or bad about leaving without making a purchase.”
“Sometimes, you’ve got to seek refuge in a store — it happens, and it can feel awkward. But in my retail jobs, I never minded if someone came in and didn’t spend, so why should I feel self-conscious? In 2026, we shouldn’t feel bad for saving money, especially as hard as it is.”
“I rarely impulse buy, and if I enter a store, I’m usually looking for something specific. If I don’t find it or any substitute, why should I feel awkward or uncomfortable?”
“I shop around before some purchases for price, quality, and features, so I leave without purchasing anything quite a bit. I really try to control impulsive buying.”
“I try not to impulse buy. I go for a specific item. They don’t have it, I leave with nothing.”
“If what I need is not available, and I don’t need anything else, then I don’t buy anything. 😉”
“If I go into a store looking for a certain item, and it’s not in stock, I walk out.”
“Don’t have what I’m looking for? Toodaloo — 22 skidoo.”
“IF THEY DON’T HAVE WHAT I WANT, THEN I’M FINE LEAVING EMPTY-HANDED.”
“No problem. Not sure why anyone would fuss over not buying something? I usually go to a brick-and-mortar store only when I do need something immediately. So, I normally don’t walk out empty-handed — unless they just didn’t have what I went in for.”
“Sometimes, I just don’t find what I am looking for.”
“It means I didn’t find what I was looking for, so now I have to figure out where to go next — more disappointed than anything.”
“Unfortunately, if I go into a store in person, I can almost always find something to buy. However, I do most of my shopping online these days, so I buy only things I really need/want.”
“That’s the best question — I’m still laughing. If the store is completely empty, I do feel bad not buying anything. In the end, it depends on the situation. If I use their bathroom, I try to buy something and do feel guilty if I don’t.”
“I probably just went in there to use the bathroom anyway.”
“I just hope they don’t think I stole anything! I’ve worked in sales, so I know how important commission is. But sometimes, it’s fun just to browse!”
“Always feel like they think I stole something.”
“Owning a retail store has made me more conscientious when shopping at small businesses. I never browse aimlessly and only enter a store if there’s a possibility of making a purchase.”
