A Quiet Sign Of Personal Growth

Welcome back to Poll Of The Day — today’s question might highlight just how far things have come.

TODAY’S POLL

LAST POLL RESULTS

48.6% of you voted Yes, a few in Friday’s poll: Do you own multiple copies of the same piece of clothing?

“Yes, a few for sure. I’ve lost weight over the past six months, so I could probably pull them out and wear them again! Several times in the past, when I was still in the workforce, I’d go shopping and find a cute skirt or top. If I liked it — and liked it on me — I’d buy the same one in different colors. That way, I could diversify my wardrobe without spending too much. Time to go through my closet, lol!”

“I have shirts in a bunch of colors, and I wear black pencil skirts every day, so I have like 10 of the same one (plus the same leggings, etc.).”

“Leggings, jeans, and white, long-sleeved shirts.”

“I only wear Wrangler Retro jeans. I have multiple of the same 1/4-zip from Tommy Bahama, Spyder, and TSLA (an Amazon brand — if you haven’t tried it, check them out).”

“It’s because of fit, brand, color, and price — especially when it comes to jeans.”

“Especially jeans! If something fits well and is comfortable, get it now while it’s available.”

“Jeans — multiple pairs of the same brand and color.”

“When something checks all the boxes, I buy it in every color!”

“Various styles, cuts, and colors of the same or similar items.”

“Same color for several shirts.”

“I LOVE MY BLACK SHIRTS!”

“I have two or three different styles of tank tops in multiple colors — a basic item that goes with most of my wardrobe and can be worn underneath other clothing. When I see an excellent sale price, I’ll buy a few colors.”

“Different colors.”

“I own multiple tank tops, but in different colors and patterns. I also own multiple pairs of shorts to mix and match with them. So, I own the same style, just not carbon copies.”

“I’m a 6' tall woman, so finding things that fit well can be tough. If something works, and I really love it, I’ll buy multiples.”

“Mostly pants. As a tall-ish woman, once I find a pair that fits, I buy a few pairs due to the scarcity of finding pants that are actually the proper length.”

“I used to be able to order a new one in the same size and know it would fit. Now manufacturers cut corners, and the new one is smaller and crummier.”

“I have several pairs of pants from a certain brand in the same style number, just in different colors.”

“Not the same exact piece of clothing, but I have 5-6 pairs of black pants that I pair with different blouses for work.”

“My gym clothes are repeats. I find something comfortable that fits, and I buy several. I don’t want to dress up for the gym or have to think about what I’m going to wear — repeat clothing settles those decisions.”

“I have eight of the same exercise T-shirts, plus one long-sleeved version. When you find something you love, you love it well.”

“If it’s something that I know fits, it’ll last me a long time, and I feel confident in it, yes, I have multiple copies of the same item — typically in different colors, though.”

“You betcha! If I find something I like and that actually fits well, then I get a couple pairs of whatever it is — especially shoes, since they change every year.”

“If I find an item of clothing that fits me well, and I like it, I buy it in several colors!”

“If I really like something, I want an extra or two to extend wear!”

“Absolutely — if the cut and fit are right, why not buy two of the same item?”

“I’m retired. I wear T-shirts (geek, band, places, etc.) and shorts for most of the year. South Florida is hot about 345 days a year — the other 20, it’s really comfortable. Just kidding — we do get a few cold days where long pants are required, but very few.”

“I have multiple copies because I’m a military officer — and that’s what I’m required to wear!!!”

“That’s crazy talk. Never heard of such a thing — other than Homer Simpson and the cast of Gilligan’s Island!”

“Variety is the spice of life.”
