LAST POLL RESULTS

43.5% of you voted Treat it as a regular day in yesterday’s poll: How do you typically approach Valentine’s Day?

“It’s just another day of the week.”

“Valentine’s Day is another holiday when one of us may not be home. If we do get to spend it together, I’m a hopeless romantic.”

“My wife always says she doesn’t want anything. So some big flowers will be showing up tomorrow.”

“We seldom celebrate Valentine’s Day in a big way. My husband is not the romantic type, but I know I’ll probably get flowers — and he gives me flowers on other days too, for no reason at all. I’ve been married for 43 years and am sure of his love. Not romantic, but definitely a keeper!”

“I’ve been married for 43 years, so that’s where my romance is focused. I have wonderful daughters, and of course, I love them to death. All in all, it’s a day to celebrate love for everyone.”

“Depends on whether there’s a romantic partner in the picture.”

“Valentine’s Day is for couples.”

“Celebrating our 47th year together.”

“My husband’s birthday is followed quickly by my father-in-law’s, then mine — the day before Valentine’s Day. WAY too much going on to care by the time it rolls around.”

“Valentine’s Day isn’t a romantic day to me, as it was my late Daddy’s birthday. He was born in 1939 in Connecticut and was a truly great father and man as well, and I miss him to this very day and always will. One thing I did for him on his Valentine’s birthday was make him a heart-shaped cake every single year starting when I was about 7 years old. He loved chocolate cake with vanilla frosting and cherries on top, so that’s what I baked and prepared for him from the age of seven up until his death in 2012. I miss you, Daddy, and I love you always… Happy Valentine’s Birthday 2026!”

“Just another commercialized holiday designed to squeeze money out of the consumer. Whether it’s a romantic partner, family, or friends, I’d rather express my love and gratitude in little ways daily. I guess I became cynical about the holiday 27 years ago, when my daddy — my first Valentine — passed away 2 weeks before Valentine’s Day in 1999. I’m not against the holiday; if people want to celebrate, have at it. But I lost a piece of my heart that day, and it just hasn’t felt right since. For me, it’s unfortunately time to start thinking about getting my taxes prepared. Ugh! Lol! 😉”

“It’s the day we do our taxes together. Now that’s true love!”

“My wife and I were never into Valentine’s Day. She didn’t want candy, and since we were both in college with only part-time jobs, our disposable income was scarce.”

“Valentine’s Day is a made-up, BS Hallmark holiday. If you care about someone, you show it on a daily basis and don’t need a phony holiday to let them know you love them.”

“Valentine’s Day is a Hallmark holiday!”

“My boyfriend and I write cards to each other every year, sometimes with a sweet treat. I joke that Valentine’s Day kicks off ‘uncuffing season’ — the opposite of cuffing season. If you drop the ball, you might be single by spring break.”

“Every year, I like to buy and eat Conversation Hearts and usually give gifts to my friends and family.”

“I send cards to small grandchildren.”

“After the death of my husband, I celebrate my children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.”

“This year I have a friend date!”

“Normally, I’m all about the romantic partners — 100% all day — and in the days leading up, I spend time prepping for all things love… decor, music, crafts, gifts!!! This year I’m single, so I’ll grab a nice bottle of wine and make a charcuterie plate for myself.”

“I said it depends on the year, who I’m surrounded by, and how my time allots. I love to share the hearts and silliness with friends and customers. I’m glad Galentine’s was invited, because now this is a two-day holiday.”
