LAST POLL RESULTS
37.8% of you voted Two stores depending on what I need in yesterday’s poll: How many grocery stores do you regularly shop at?
“Two stores give me the best of both worlds…”
“One predominantly, the other for a few exclusive savings — and then there’s Costco!”
“Once a month, I make a foray to Costco, Walmart, and Sherm’s. I also go closer to home once a month to Grocery Outlet and Bi-Mart.”
“I go to Grocery Outlet first — it’s much cheaper there. Whatever I don’t find there, I get at Costco or Safeway.”
“You gotta check those prices for the best value!”
“Costco for bulk items, Trader Joe’s for snacks and random things, and H Mart for produce.”
“Luckily, they are conveniently located.”
“I shop at two stores because they carry different items. They aren’t too far apart, so it’s convenient.”
“I only have two grocery store chains — Walmart and HEB — within a 75-mile radius.”
“We have two places to shop: HEB and Walmart. Both seem to have the same belief — if we don’t have it, YOU DON’T NEED IT!!!!”
“We only have two grocery stores within a 75-mile radius: a Safeway and a Walmart. Walmart has a much friendlier staff and far better prices, so they get the majority of my business.”
“We have Walmart, King Soopers, and Safeway in our town. It all depends on which side of town we’re on.”
“I go to Aldi once a month and do a major stock-up.”
“Aldi and Publix.”
“Aldi for most items, Publix for BOGOs. Occasionally Sam’s Club for items that store easily (paper towels and toilet paper), and Wild Fork for Prime beef and wild-caught USA fish.”
“Grocery shopping is my favorite chore. I usually rotate between Trader Joe’s and Aldi for staples, hit Publix for the BOGOs and $5 sushi on Wednesdays, and stop by Fresh Market on Tuesdays for their $3.99-per-pound beef and chicken specials.”
“Trader Joe’s doesn’t have everything, so once a month, I get Lucky.”
“Trader Joe’s is the best! I’m so glad I live near one!”
“I would love to shop at a Trader Joe’s or other niche food stores, but when you live in rural America, that would constitute an expedition — and a journey for food shopping doesn’t make my top ten.”
“Rural area — only have access to the one!”
“LOVE SPECIALTY STORES FOR UNIQUE CHOICES, BUT OK WITH REGULAR STORES FOR BASICS.”
“We have our go-to and then an ‘everything else’ store. Having celiac, there are so many specialty items we need or prefer that no one store has them all!”
“I go to several… it depends on what I need and when!”
“It always seems like we have to go to two or three different stores. Either the store we’re at doesn’t carry what we’re looking for, or it’s cheaper elsewhere. We do have our favorite stores that we like and try to patronize as much as possible.”
“I shop mainly at several stores that have curbside pickup. I am unable to shop inside stores due to a physical condition. The stores are all in proximity to each other. That makes it possible to shop for specials at more stores on the same day.”
“I have my groceries delivered from Walmart. I have health issues, and this helps tremendously. Plus, I’m not tempted to make impulse purchases since I’m not physically in the store. Delivery doesn’t always work perfectly, so sometimes I do have to go into the store to pick up an item that wasn’t delivered. But that’s OK, since I’m usually not on my feet for more than a few minutes at a time.”
“I often order online. Otherwise, one or two stores are my go-to. I hate running out for another item. Non-food items are Amazon, and food items are Imperfect for the environment and small runs, which become bigger at Sprouts or Target, since they’re close by.”
“They both deliver to my home. The Amazon age.”
“I don’t have the time to run to different places for just a few things.”
“I said one primary, but I’ll go to a second for a couple of things my main store doesn’t carry anymore (and then I’ll buy everything there — because I’m ticked that my store doesn’t carry certain items anymore). If I have a small list, I’ll go to our small neighborhood grocer to support them.”
“The best thing to come out of the pandemic was affordable grocery delivery service offered by the superstore in the city closest to me, so I am happy to give them 99% of my grocery business in return for all the time I get to save.”
