Not All Tourists Make This Stop
Welcome back to Poll Of The Day — today’s question wanders off the beaten path and into the aisles.

TODAY’S POLL
When you travel, whether domestically or internationally, how often do you visit local grocery stores? |
LAST POLL RESULTS
46% of you voted Yes, I’ve made a few good friends through work. in yesterday’s poll: Have you made meaningful friendships through work during your life?
“Nothing like corporate trauma to bond people together. <3”
“SOME PEOPLE IN THE WORKPLACE CAN BE VERY NICE, AND WHEN YOU DO FAVORS FOR THEM, THEY RETURN THE FAVORS WITHOUT BEING ASKED.”
“We stay in touch and try to get together a couple of times during the year. At work is where I made some good relationships. We worked hard and partied hard during our time together.”
“Even after retiring, I still keep up the connections. Still get the tea that way!”
“I am a retired pastor.”
“I have made several long-lasting friendships through work, but that was mostly in my younger years. I had one good friend at my last job before retiring, but she left the company several years before I did, and I’ve been retired for two years myself. She moved to a different town as well, so we’ve somewhat lost touch. Unfortunately, making friends at work nowadays isn’t like it was 30 or 40 years ago.”
“I had a coworker-turned-friend in my wedding party. Then she married a Trumper, and we’ve never been the same.”
“Good question. I have made friends through work. The problem, however, is that work can make it hard to maintain a relationship. Basically, you want to keep it professional while still being part of a team. A couple of people I’ve been through the trenches with — we’re still tight. Sadly, a couple have passed away.”
“I’m always the boss, and employees don’t make for good friends outside of work; it blurs the lines. I will say I’ve made many friendships with my clients, and those have been delightful.”
“You never know where you’ll meet your next friend.”
“Work friends can become lifelong friends. All friendships survive through nurturing.”
“Met my wife at work.”
“I have a great friend that I met at work 40 years ago.”
“I last worked with my best friend 38 years ago, and we’re closer than ever!”
“I CHANGED JOBS A FEW TIMES, AND ONLY A FEW FRIENDSHIPS REMAINED AFTER.”
“I have a couple of work friendships that have lasted beyond the workplace, but they usually fizzle out after a few months.”
“Over the years, it’s been a mixed bag. Kinda like life itself.”
“It is what it is.”
