“To call what you hear now music is disrespectful to all the artists of the past who put their heart and soul into the craft. There are very few songs I’ve heard where you can honestly say, ‘That was really good!’”

“I honestly don’t listen to enough new music these days. Most of it sounds the same, unlike the music of yesteryear. I try to keep an open mind, but it’s really hard. Anything before 2000 is my style, with one exception... Bruno Mars! His music makes me think he was born 20 years too late, lol!”

Streaming encourages ‘popcorn’ listening, so I think it’s less about artists making cohesive albums in the ‘old’ or ‘traditional’ way and more about the way people consume music.”

“It depends on the artist and the music. If the vocals are strong, it’s fun to hear a contemporary artist sing an old standard. Music does change and evolve with the times.”

“I really do think it depends on the artist, but a lot of country albums tend to lean more toward storytelling. In my opinion, not every song is necessarily a hit (with the occasional album where somehow every song is), but they usually feel cohesive as a whole.”
