LAST POLL RESULTS

45.4% of you voted I’m buying and eating it as usual in yesterday’s poll: How, if at all, has your approach to buying or eating fresh produce changed recently?

“Nothing new, same ole, same ole. Anything that isn’t peeled will get rinsed. We can’t get scared due to a mistake with a certain fruit. We just have to do what’s best for ourselves — no one else is going to look after us.”

“There seems to be a lot in the news about health problems arising from untreated or unwashed fruits and vegetables. We buy the triple-washed lettuce and pretty much rinse everything else before we eat it or prepare a dish.”

“Gotta eat green to live. I’ve always washed my produce, and I’ll continue to do so.”

“I have always washed our produce carefully and continue to do so. We eat as much summer fruit as I can get my husband to eat — which is a lot.”

“Love fruit. Eat vegetables out of necessity.”

“I am not doing anything differently!”

“I buy (and wash) fresh produce at least twice a week. It’s part of my daily meal planning.”

“With prices rising, I started a vegetable garden this year, and I am so glad I did. I use all organic products, and my food tastes so good/great! I barely buy any fresh vegetables, and I’m looking at buying a freezer to store my overflow. Next, I’ll be trying indoor hydroponic gardening.”

“I also have a garden.”

“Also growing fresh produce because I don’t trust what the big grocery stores are putting into our food.”

“Mainly, I grow all I can. Farm stands and farmers markets are the next step, then Whole Foods or mom-and-pop markets I can trust.”

“Most of my produce comes from the farmers market, and it’s grown 10 miles or less from my home by people I know who grow organically. 😁”

“Loving all the fresh produce at the local farmers market this time of year.”

“Trying to buy local and washing it more carefully.”

“Hasn’t really changed — I’ve always inspected and washed it carefully.”

“Has something changed? Lol.”

“Really concerned about Bill Gates’ involvement in all things food- and health-related.”

“WASH WHAT YOU CAN, COOK WHAT YOU CAN’T.”

“Better safe than sorry…”

“I’m pregnant, so there’s no need to risk it.”

“Since my wife had oral surgery last month and is on a soft diet for 2 months, we’ve cut back on buying fresh produce and hard fruits. I anticipate our buying habits will change after her next appointment.”

“I have always done a combination of all the choices. Of course, cooking depends on the choice of fresh produce.”

“I actually buy so little at this point that any combination above will work. I’m tired of buying it only for it to rot in the drawer!”
