“Totally open. I’m sure it has to do with the way I was raised. I had NO privacy as an only child because my mother tried to control every move I made. Even though I grew up like that, my son can close his door whenever he likes. Now that I think about it, I find it strange she treated me that way, considering I grew up during the latchkey kid era of the ’70s and ’80s. Hmmmmmm... 🤷‍♀️”

“I’d get too claustrophobic if my bedroom door was closed. Even when I was a little kid, I wanted the door open — with the hall light on, if allowed.”

“I live alone. Why would I close my bedroom door?”

“Why I always sleep with my bedroom door fully closed is probably a habit I picked up from living with my parents. Even now that I live alone (well, with my dog) in an apartment, that habit has stuck with me. Maybe it just gives me an extra sense of security — I don’t really know. All I know is I have to have the door closed to fall asleep!”
