The People Who Made The Meetings Bearable
Welcome back to Poll Of The Day — today’s question explores what happens when professional connections become personal ones.

TODAY’S POLL
Have you made meaningful friendships through work during your life? |
LAST POLL RESULTS
42.3% of you voted Different seasons affect me in different ways in yesterday’s poll: Which best describes how seasonal changes affect your mood?
“Seasonal changes do require a certain amount of adaptation; however, I try to view those adaptations as opportunities. In winter, I tend to stay in more, so it becomes an opportunity to read more, reflect, and work on things I can do indoors. I also have an indoor succulent garden. Summer, on the other hand, evokes a desire to be outside more — taking longer hikes, gardening, and enjoying outdoor festivals and gatherings. The seasons are all marvelous in their own way. There are downsides, but there are always downsides to life.”
“I’m in the minority in saying that summer is my favorite season. I’d rather be sweating, since I can cool off by sitting in front of a fan. But once I’m cold, I can’t get the chill out of my bones — extra layers don’t help. I’ve also noticed that I’m in a better mood when the weather is warm. It would be nice if we could just hibernate through winter and wake up to spring! 😉”
“Different seasons definitely affect my mood. I tend to get blue in the middle of winter and become more positive and upbeat as spring approaches.”
“SAD is a real thing, and winter makes me so gloomy.”
“I experience the opposite of SAD — I tend to go a little crazy when I get too much sun.”
“Love the summer and hot weather — lots of sunshine and time to head to the beach. I dislike bitter cold and freezing weather because it keeps me inside, but I can tolerate winter.”
“When we fall back and it starts getting dark earlier, it really throws me off — I’m not a fan. Plus, there’s no baseball to watch. I love spring and summer.”
“Love spring, summer, and fall…”
“Summer is a drag. The anticipation of fall is fabulous.”
“I live in the desert, and I’m not (yet) a snowbird, so the summer heat really worsens my mood.”
“I have never been influenced by the weather. It may alter my choice of activities but not my mood.”
“My life stays pretty even-keeled year-round.”
“I’m on a pretty even keel. Rx are a wonderful thing — thank you, sertraline!”
“Grounding myself spiritually increases my joy and gratitude for all the beauty each season brings.”
