The Proof Is In The Pan
Welcome back to Poll Of The Day — today’s question is about the ingredient that can’t be bought at the grocery store.

TODAY’S POLL
What do you think is the clearest sign that someone knows how to cook? |
LAST POLL RESULTS
27.4% of you voted Something else in yesterday’s poll: Which jacket works best for you all year long?
“I live in Alaska, so there is no one single jacket that works for me all year long.”
“I rarely wear a jacket, even in the winter!”
“I hate jackets.”
“I seldom need any kind of jacket. I live in Hawaii, where you just enjoy the rain, and it seldom gets very cold.”
“I live in Arizona. They don’t sell jackets here.”
“This is southern Arizona — the only ‘jacket’ necessary for 90% of the year is something lightweight to cover my handgun.”
“When you live in Minnesota, no single jacket works all year long.”
“Too many weather changes in New York to only have one jacket!”
“I’m in Florida. It’s rare for us to need any jackets. Maybe for two weeks in January…”
“I live in an area where the weather is 80°F in the morning, we’ll have a downpour at lunch, and a blizzard on my drive home. One jacket will not cut it in this area.”
“Our seasons require different specific outerwear.”
“A zip-up fleece jacket is my go-to.”
“Patagonia fleece.”
“Cardigan.”
“I am partial to a sweater cardigan with pockets that I have been using since 1989. It goes in and out of style. It has endured many launderings during that time, but it still looks good!”
“I have a quilted silk winter jacket that has been great for cooler weather for more than 15 years.”
“A cozy sweater is my go-to.”
“Long-sleeve shirt or sweater.”
“Navy double-breasted blazer.”
“I have many different zip-up hoodies. I wear them daily. The lighter ones on hotter days.”
“I HAVE 3 FOR DIFFERENT TEMPERATURES. AND A FEW LOGO ONES.”
“Simple.”
“Hoodies for life!”
“They all have value depending on the circumstances.”
“Considering that in the Carolinas we can have four seasons in a week — and sometimes in a single day — I usually just wear my zip-up hoodie. That’s definitely my go-to type of casual jacket, unless it’s freezing outside. Then I’ll wear my winter jacket. I absolutely HATE being cold!”
“It’s quite warm here, so it’s only in the winter when a jacket is required. In the summer, we get lots of rain, but I just stay inside on those days unless absolutely necessary.”
“I need a new zip-up hoodie! Mine is frayed from age. I layer my clothes in the fall and winter. In an unheated warehouse during the winter, my hoodie was my outermost layer.”
“A windbreaker for me. I wear it in cool weather and in the rain.”
“Nothing bulky or heavy — I prefer layering.”
“I have a blue L.L. Bean rain jacket that is my go-to until winter comes. I love it because I can use the pockets as a substitute for a purse. I take it on most of our trips for that reason.”
“I wear a nice-looking tech jacket year-round that has quite a few pockets for all my stuff!”
“I live in a place with four seasons, so there is no ‘all-weather’ jacket for me! But I do have a crisp chore coat that can easily be dressed up or down and that I can reach for in (almost) every season.”
“Carhartt!”
“A bomber jacket, exactly like the one Ryan Gosling’s character wears in Drive. 🦂”
“I have a great denim jacket that has been my go-to forever. I’ve lost a lot of weight recently, and I’ll be so sad to give it up.”
“You can dress a jean jacket up or down. I have about 10 of them.”
“I live in southern CA, so really, no jacket.”
