The Smallest Sticker With The Biggest Impact
Welcome back to Poll Of The Day — a common food label is the focus today.

TODAY’S POLL
How often do you buy organic when grocery shopping? |
LAST POLL RESULTS
59.6% of you voted No, I got rid of it years ago in yesterday’s poll: Do you have a landline phone in your home?
“No need…”
“But I miss it!”
“I miss the landline sometimes, but not all the spam calls I got on it at the end of having one.”
“A timely question indeed. It was hard to cut the cord (pun intended), but we never used it. The only calls we got were robocalls, and we saved money by disconnecting it.”
“The only people who ever called on the landline were telemarketers, so we ditched it.”
“Only received scam and commercial calls. Got rid of it.”
“All I ever got on my landline were robo calls, so I got rid of it at least ten years ago — probably more.”
“Got rid of it only about 10 years ago.”
“I was late to the game but finally broke free about 10–11 years ago. I realized I was paying for something that wasn’t needed anymore and that this was the future. I wish I had done it several years earlier. It took a while to get used to, but it’s a distant memory now, lol!”
“We got rid of our landline back in 2012, but honestly, I kind of miss it. I even had a candlestick phone in high school. I don’t love how cell phones make us available 24/7.”
“I only use my smartphone now!”
“My husband had a hard time learning how to use a cell phone, so we kept a landline mainly for his use.”
“Still have plugs for them throughout the house.”
“I got rid of my landline phone at the same time l let my answering machine go. Wow! The answering machine was such a cool invention!! I still remember the sensation of checking messages. How liberating it was.”
“Oldie but goodie!”
“Came as part of my cable and internet pack.”
“It’s part of a package deal. If I drop it, the other parts will increase in total costs!”
“I tried canceling it, but my cable company said my bill would actually go up if I did, supposedly due to a bundling discount. Xfinity is lame. The landline comes in handy if your phone has no charge, I guess.”
“The kids call the landline when we don’t pick up our cell phones. Lol!”
“I’m not actually sure if we finally got rid of the thing or not, but the last time I saw it, it was sitting on the top shelf in a closet.”
“My ‘landline’ phone is actually a VOIP (Ooma). We got rid of the actual landline 15–20 years ago as the cost became excessive.”
“I have one, but I’m not sure it deserves to be called a landline since Verizon forced me to leave copper-based wiring and go to VOIP (which, in my view, defeats the purpose of a landline, which is to have a phone that works when cell towers and power are not).”
“It works when cell towers fail or collapse in the ice and snow, and if we lose electricity, we can report the outage.”
“Need many ways to back up systems.”
“I have to be able to call my mobile when I can’t find it.”
“Unfortunately, our cell phones don’t always work because we live on the wrong side of the bluffs, so we need to be able to call clinics, etc.”
“I live in a hilly rural area where cell phones are useless.”
“I am retired, so I am at home almost all the time and find the need for a cell phone almost nil. I do have one, and it is always with me when I’m away from home, but I rarely need to use it. It’s more of an emergency phone when I’m out of the house.”
“One may use their cell phone more often and regularly, but I think it’s beneficial to still have a landline, even if only as a backup when cell service isn’t working properly. Landlines also have better caller ID when it comes to screening for scams, political calls, and any kind of crap like that.”
“I use my landline mostly to try and win radio contests.”
