The True Test Of Convenience

Welcome back to Poll Of The Day — today’s question looks at how far everyday life really goes.

TODAY’S POLL

LAST POLL RESULTS

64.6% of you voted It depends on the event or gathering in yesterday’s poll: What’s your typical response to a last-minute invitation to an event or gathering?

“Who, what, and where?”

“Will there be transportation?”

“I’m pretty much game for anything fun, but the people make the party, so it depends on who’s doing the inviting.”

“IF IT’S GOOD, I MAKE THE TIME TO GO. IF NOT, OH WELL.”

“Always discuss it with my family before making a decision.”

“Sometimes yes, sometimes no. It depends on my mood, energy level, and what and where the event is.”

“In my younger years, I’d accept right away. Now it depends on the event. I try to take advantage when possible, but if I don’t feel like it, I don’t feel guilty or obligated anymore.”

“It depends on what is happening, where, etc. I was more apt to accept ALL last-minute invites when I was younger, because I loved doing things on the spur of the moment. Now that’s a little more difficult with my health issues — and even on whether I’ll be at my house or my condo. But I do always appreciate the invite!”

“Depends on who invites me and what it is, but 90% of the time, I won’t go. My health can vary day to day, and if I have enough spoons left, I’ll go.”

“My free time is so limited these days that I protect it at all costs. If I get a last-minute invite to something, it better be pretty great to eat into that free time.”

“Last-minute invitations are weighed heavily…”

“I think last-minute invitations are annoying, and you have to wonder just how far down on the list you were.”

“Definitely depends on the event and how well I know the person. If it’s someone who only invited me as a last-ditch option, I’ll politely decline. However, if someone’s plans fell through and they need someone last minute, I’ll usually accept if I’m available.”

“If I’m available, I’m all for last-minute plans. I love to follow the fun, whether it’s planned or last minute. Count me in.”

“I’m always ready to go out! Life is too short!”

“Put me in, coach — I’m ready to play! Let’s go!”

“If it’s a guys’ event.”

“I try to keep myself open to new experiences and the chance to get together with friends and loved ones as much as possible!”

“Community and relationships are the backbone of happiness. Spending time with friends is almost always better than another night on the couch. Even if it’s last-minute, I’ll usually try to go unless I have a real reason not to. We also love hosting friends at the house — the more, the merrier!”

“First invitation takes priority over later invitations unless it is for a funeral.”

“I usually decline, as I don’t do ‘last minute.’”

“You may have been an afterthought.”

“I live far from town and am not interested in spontaneous travel.”

“I never get invited to anything last-minute!”
