LAST POLL RESULTS

87.8% of you voted Yes in yesterday’s poll: Do you think drivers should get money back on their annual car insurance if they don’t have any accidents that year?

“Sure, why not?”

“Why not?”

“My insurance does it.”

“Why not! They deserve it! Send me my check! …LOL.”

“Who’s getting rich? The auto insurance company.”

“Yes. Why should insurance companies get richer and richer!”

“Insurance companies make entirely too much profit, and that’s just what we’re allowed to see. They’re good at hiding profits.”

“The amount of money an insurance company profits yearly is insane. I have State Farm and have watched my premiums go up and up while the CEO makes MILLIONS. I won’t change companies, even though there are cheaper options out there, as I have been with them for over 40 years and am on a no-cancel policy.”

“Definitely, they should give something back for good drivers. Also, people should put in every claim they possibly can when needed. Warren Buffett loves investing in insurance companies because they make so much money. So, always make sure you get your money’s worth.”

“Most definitely, we should get a refund for being accident-free. The insurance companies have had many good years of profits.”

“Like any other insurance companies, especially health insurance companies, they profit HIGHLY on our backs. With the hurdles and penalties that customers go through just to file a small claim, only to get denied sometimes, all insurance companies should be totally revamped. It’s no wonder so many go without it illegally, although it’s not fair to those of us who do have insurance.”

“Why should good, safe drivers be penalized for unsafe, bad drivers? They should be rewarded with either a set amount of money back or a reduced rate.”

“Perhaps people would stop driving into buildings in the town where I live if they had this kind of incentive.”

“I think there should be some kind of incentive, either a rebate or a drop in annual fees.”

“No tickets, no accidents — insurance rebate!”

“And no tickets.”

“If not returned, then apply it to next year’s premium. The insured is happy, and the company won’t lose a customer.”

“And even more money if they go several years without an accident.”

“That would be great. I was just thinking the other day about how much money I have been giving to my car insurance for 4+ decades and have never once had to use them for anything.”

“We should get untaxed money back on every service we pay for and use appropriately.”

“Should be a law.”

“Anything to take from money-hungry insurance companies and give back to the people!”

“I will never not believe the average American should receive some kind of refund.”

“Kind of a pipe dream, though.”

“I voted yes, but it will never happen, especially with the nuclear settlements that are becoming the norm.”

“INSURANCE IS A NECESSARY EVIL, WHERE WE ALWAYS LOSE.”

“Insurance companies fund claims and their business operations with the premiums of those who do not claim. How could they give this money back?”

“That’s not how any of this works…”

“The purpose of insurance is to distribute the costs of an accident over a large group of people. If people who are accident-free get their money back, then insurance doesn’t work, and a higher cost goes to the person in the accident. That isn’t insurance. That’s penalizing a party who is already hurt.”

“I do not expect to pay more by supplementing the cost of repairs if I do have an accident, so I should not expect a refund. We are all evaluated by our risk.”

“Rates would go up if the insurance companies had to pay us back.”

“Getting money from non-accident subscribers ensures lower annual costs for all participants.”

“I would just be happy if they didn’t raise my rates.”
