Your Look Has Context

Welcome back to Poll Of The Day — today’s question goes beyond the surface of your style.

TODAY’S POLL

LAST POLL RESULTS

60.8% of you voted 3+ years ago in yesterday’s poll: When was the last time you visited an aquarium or zoo?

“I’m not a fan of either, but I’ve gone to both throughout my life. The last time I went to a zoo or an aquarium was probably 20 years ago or so.”

“I can’t remember!”

“More like 10+ years — maybe even 15.”

“TOO EXPENSIVE TO DO IT NOW!!”

“The last zoo I visited was in Hong Kong, the year before it was handed over to China on July 1, 1997.”

“We end up going to one of the NC aquariums about once a year during a rainy day at the beach.”

“I haven’t been to a zoo since I was probably a child. I did go to Ripley’s Aquarium in Myrtle Beach about 8 years ago — that was fun! My son enjoyed it, too.”

“Love the zoo in Columbia, SC. Used to ride the train to the zoo for a day at the Brookfield Zoo with my daughters — very fun day out!”

“Taking my toddler to all of the things whenever I can.”

“I have kids! We’ve been to a zoo twice and an aquarium once in the past year.”

“We haven’t been much in the past few years since our kids are now grown.”

“Kids grew up. Grandson is almost old enough, so I envision more in my near future.”

“Have grandkids — have zoo and museum memberships. Go often.”

“THEY ARE ALWAYS A FUN VISIT.”

“Toronto Zoo is great.”

“I love me a zoo and/or aquarium!!! I used to bike ride to the National Zoo in Washington, DC, and spend the whole day. Even now, when I go to visit, my family dreads our excursion to the zoo — but it’s not an option.”

“Baltimore Aquarium on the Inner Harbor — highly recommend!”

“Last time was for a breast cancer walk — my first charity walk ever — and it was great! We went twice around the main promenade at the Detroit Zoo and even got a free pass to visit. I also got to do something I hadn’t done in years: ride their big carousel!”

“Great question, because it just reminded me I need to go to both the aquarium and the zoo — it’s been too long. If you can go early in the morning during the week, it’s fantastic. We used to have an apartment 2 blocks from the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, and I loved going for a stroll there with my wife.”

“The Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska is a fantastic zoo. I would love to visit again!”

“I have a 13-year-old, a 3-year-old, and a 2-year-old. We go to the Denver Zoo and the Denver Aquarium often. I’m hoping to take my family to the Atlanta Aquarium soon.”

“We generally go all the time — we had passes to the Wildlife Park in San Diego. Now that we’ve just moved to Monterey, there’s always the aquarium.”

“Monterey Bay Aquarium is a true wonder!”

“I wish I lived closer to a zoo or aquarium. There are both on Oahu, but it’s a plane ride away from where I live in Hawaii — and you don’t just hop on a plane to visit like you would a bus, subway, or car. It’s yet another awesome thing I liked about living in the Los Angeles area, which has both a zoo and an aquarium.”

“Both of these are on the other side of the state from where I live, and I haven’t traveled that direction in too long. I miss the coast…”

“Oregon to be exact.”

“It was in Tacoma, Washington, and it was awesome!”

“I love both, but there are none local to me, and I haven’t made the trip in a while.”

“I didn’t visit either one enough.”

“On a trip to Sydney last year, I was really looking forward to going to Taronga Zoo, but my spouse was more interested in looking at wines, so we ran out of time. However, I INSISTED we go to the Melbourne Zoo instead — and that we go back to Sydney someday.”

“After seeing animals in their natural environment in Africa, I find it really hard — and saddening — to see them in a zoo.”

“I do not like to see wild animals in cages or fake habitats.”

“Not a fan of zoos.”

“Rather the aquarium than the zoo…”
